St. Ezekiel caravan reaches fourth day

Lingayen, Pangasinan – More than a dozen media practitioners from the different print and broadcast agencies in Pangasinan attended the press conference at the Dagupeña Restaurant on May 4, 2006, Thursday shortly after the end of the healing mass in the cathedral of the archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Orbos planned, coordinated and arranged for the reception of St. Ezekiel Moreno’s pilgrimage entourage in the provinces of Bataan, Zambales and Western Pangasinan. After an overnight stay in the first class hotel-cum-resort accommodation at the Villa Jireh Japheth Holistic Resort Hotel, the group proceeded to Lingayen, Pangasinan for the healing mass presided by Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, OAR. Fr. Alberto Areños welcomed the twenty eight person delegates of the Recoletos 400 caravan in the Epiphany of the Lord Cathedral Parish.

Prior to the healing mass, Prof. Emmanuel Luis Romanillos rendered the conferences on the life and legacy of St. Ezekiel Moreno as well as the history and contributions of the Order of Augustinian Recollects to the Philippine Church and Nation. Fr. Ferdinand sustained the three-hour healing mass attended by around 500 hundred faithful before he finally advanced to Calasiao, Pangasinan where the local media group awaited for him at the Dagupeña Restaurant. The press conference was well-handled by Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, OAR, Prof. Luis Romanillos, Mrs. Sonia Roco and Mrs. Rose Orbos despite some sensationalized and off- tangent questions posed to them by willing-to-be-informed journalists.

While the delegates were preparing to move on to Baguio City, Fr. Reneboy Jaranilla, OAR, Prof. Luis Romanillos and Squeegee Jakosalem alighted from the caravan vehicles and transferred to the Hi-Ace van provided by Mrs. Rose Orbos who graciously secured their free transportation way back to Manila.

The caravan continued to its next destination which was Baguio City via Kennon Road. A short stop was called at the road’s prominent landmark of a lion’s head delicately carved on bedrock by the Lion’s Club International for the first timers to take souvenir photos. At 6:30 P.M., the caravan arrived in Casiciaco-Recoletos Seminary and the participants were welcomed by the OAR Fathers, CaReS Youth Club and A.R. Sisters. Dinner was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Avmir Pangilinan in their residence at Happy Home, Campo Sioco, Baguio City.

Meanwhile, Mr. Oscar Orbos, when asked about his message to the Recoletos 400 caravan before leaving Lingayen, said that “we are just paying back the goodness of the Recollect missionaries who labored so much in order to make our province turn out to be what it is today.”

- Rev. Ian Anthony Espartero, OAR
