Biyaheng Recoletos Caravan

SANTIAGO CITY. MAY 12, 2006. The journey continues as we moved on the twelfth day of Biyaheng Recoletos 400, a Nationwide Caravan-Pilgrimage. Prayers, greetings, financial and material help continue to pour in support of the Caravan. Just the night before the twelfth, Hon. Edward Isidro, mayor of Mallig, Isabela and an alumni of San Sebastian College -Manila, visited and surprised the group with a whole litsong baboy.

Unfazed by the coming typhoon and the sudden downpour, the group traveled early to St. James Parish, Santiago City, province of Isabela. At six a.m. the short video production Biyaheng Recoletos was played with Professor Romanillos giving the introduction. A considerable number of parishioners attended the Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, OAR.

“Who would not welcome a saint?” said Archbishop Diosdado Talamayan, DD, Archbishop of Tuguegarao, when his permission was sought by Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, OAR to bring the pilgrim image of St. Ezekiel Moreno to his Archdiocese on May 11, 2006.

TUGUERARAO. May 10, 2006. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary Fr. Adrian Baculi and Procurator Fr. Joel Reyes—also Vice President for Administration of Lyceum of Aparri—treated us to a great breakfast at the seminary refectory. There was always time for Lauds and other morning prayers for caravan members and, fortunately, a lot of time for those tasked with reporting this major event for sending to www.recoletos.ph our faithful Biyaheng Recoletos chronicles at the Lyceum school internet laboratory.

At 10:30 in the morning, Rev. Ian Espartero, OAR, commenced Day 10 at Saint Peter Thelmo Parish church at Aparri, with a brief biography of Saint Ezekiel Moreno and a history of the Augustinian Recollects in the Philippines. His baritone voice echoed at the parish church as he narrated to the congregation the wonderful things in the life of St Ezekiel and the marvels God has wrought on cancer patients through his powerful intercession. He concluded with a heartfelt plea for vocations among the people of Cagayan Valley.

APARRI. MAY 9, 2006. We woke up early the next morning and left St. Mary’s Seminary. By 6:30 a.m., the three vehicles drove back to St. William the Hermit Cathedral. The group of Fr. Ferdinand Hernando, Prof. Romanillos, Rev. Ian Espartero and SARF sister Elena Culaton had sojourned at the adjoining Monastery of Santa Clara of the Clarisas Capuchinas Sacramentarias. They were awakened by the heavenly voices of the contemplative nuns chanting their Lauds to the Lord Jesus. They caught up with the caravan for their morning fraternal agape.

Ilocos Province-A trip to the northern Philippines showcased the spectacular culture of the Ilocanos in a reception they feted to the entourage of the Biyaheng Recoletos caravan on May 8, 2006 in two major cities.

Mrs. Marjo Gasser gladly offered her Villa Angela Heritage House, Inc. in Vigan City to house the eighteen persons who were received yesterday by Msgr. Thaddeus Mercado, the Vicar-General and Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The Recoletos caravan was declined access to celebrate the healing mass in honor of St. Ezekiel Moreno in St. Paul Cathedral due to conflicts in schedule which the cathedral chapter graciously explained to be difficult to forego.

Baguio City – The Recoletos 400 caravan took a peaceful one-day stop at Casiciaco-Recoletos Seminary in Baguio City on the fifth day of its 40 day sojourn to the different parts of the Philippine.

"Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of this is Love." We are gathered and called not just to feel the love of God but also to share that love. Many times we have become self-centered in our prayers, personal favors have been asked through the prayers of others, we forget that it ought to be for others.

Lingayen, Pangasinan – More than a dozen media practitioners from the different print and broadcast agencies in Pangasinan attended the press conference at the Dagupeña Restaurant on May 4, 2006, Thursday shortly after the end of the healing mass in the cathedral of the archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan.
